Class Bursary

Our class bursary supports McGill medical students with economic and social challenges to the completion of their degree. In the context of Canada's 2017 Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and McGill's response through the Indigenous Health Professions Program, the bursary has given preference to indigenous medical students since 2019. Our classmate Dick Menzies, internationally respected pulmonologist specializing in tuberculosis treatment and committed to indigenous peoples' health during his career at McGill, described the program and his role at our 40th reunion in 2018. Then the Program's assistant director, he has transitioned to a full-time focus on TB and has been succeeded by Romina Pace MD, MSc - our contact at the IHPP.

Since our bursary's inception in 2013, we have supported 12 students for a total of 16 awards. The fund has grown to provide approximately $5,700 annually, helping 3 students in 2020 and 2 in 2021. McGill and recipient students appreciate our class for its commitment, as below.

On behalf of graduates like us and future students as we were, your reunion committee appreciates your consideration of our Class Bursary as a destination for your generosity.
